Samsung Electronics had filed patent lawsuits against Apple Inc in South Korea, Japan and Germany, a week after Apple Inc ( world's top technology company )claimed Samsung's smartphones and tablets copied its products. Samsung Electronics lawsuit involves infringement of up to five patents but didn't explain the technology involved. As per company statement " Samsung is responding actively to protect our Intellectual Property and continued innovation and growth in mobile communication business".

Before a week ago, Apple Inc had filed a lawsuit against Samsung alleging that it had violated patents and trademarks of its iPhone and iPad, as there is rising competition of their rival devices based on Google's android operating system.Samsung is the fastest growing smartphone makers and emerged as Apple's strongest competitor in the tablet market.

Strong sales of the iPhone and iPad translate into more revenue for Samsung. Apple was Samsung's second-biggest client after Japan's Sony last year, bringing in around $6.2 trillion won of sales. 

Shares in Samsung, Asia's biggest technology company with a market value of $140 billion, fell 2.7 percent by after three consecutive sessions of gains. ( Sources CNBC )
