A "small fire" broke out on Royal Caribbean International's Allure of the Seas, the largest ship in the world on Friday.
In a statement provided to CNBC, Royal Caribbean said that at "approximately 7:45 pm (ET) Royal Caribbean International's Allure of the Seas experienced a small and short lived engine fire. The ship's high fog system was immediately activated, which contained and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries to guest or crew. The ship is sailing towards Port Everglades were it will arrive on Sunday, April 22 as scheduled.
This news comes on the heels of disappointing first-quarter results with Royal Caribbean Cruises first-quarter profit falling 40 percent after the deadly January 13 wreck of a competitor Carnival's ship, the Costa Concordia, led to a drop- off in bookings and higher fuel prices.
Shares of RCL ended lower on Friday. The ship was on a seven-night sailing from Port Everglades.
